- ➤ Mario Reyna (leader of the Prosperity Task Force) wrote a guest column urging local mentors to support groups like United Way and local Boys & Girls Clubs to guide youth in Hidalgo County. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Hidalgo County Drainage District No. 1 upgraded aging drainage systems as rapid urban growth overwhelmed infrastructure designed for farmland — voters approved $385 million in bonds to restore channels, add detention ponds, and expand capacity. Yvette Barrera said projects during a March storm kept neighborhoods dry and further work will continue to protect the area. Rio Grande Guardian
