Edinburg invites the public to its Spooktacular 2025 celebration on Oct.
18 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Edinburg World Birding Center, located at 714 S. Raul Longoria Road – the event promises fun for the whole family.
💼 Business
Edinburg Economic Development Corporation and Chamber of Commerce will hold a groundbreaking on Friday, Oct.
10 at 11 a.m. at 2200 S. Raul Longoria Road for Plaza Guerlain—a new commercial project featuring multi-tenant spaces and on-site parking designed to boost local job growth.
🎓 Education
South Texas ISD and its campuses earned an A+ and a No. 2 ranking among Texas districts in Niche’s Best Schools rankings, celebrating 12 consecutive years of top performance.
The district’s middle and high schools also received high marks for teacher quality + student success.
Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library in Edinburg is hosting free children’s programs throughout October at 1906 S.
Closner Blvd. The schedule offers Toddler Time on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. (Oct. 7, 14, 21, and 28), Pre-school Story Time on Fridays at 10 a.m. (Oct. 3, 10, 17, and 24), Homeschool Hour for ages 6 to 11 on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. (Oct. 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29) and a Not So Spooky session with costumes and trick-or-treating on Oct. 31.
Edinburg CISD will present its free Marching Band Showcase on October 13th at Richard R.
Flores Stadium, 1800 S. Stadium Dr. Admission is free and performances will start at 7 p.m.—families can see the JEHS Jaguars, RVHS SaberCats, ENHS Cougars and EHS Bobcats as a preview of the annual Pigskin Jubilee contest.
Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library in Edinburg will offer a monthlong lineup of free activities for tweens and teens ages 11 to 18; events will include Chess Day on Oct.
12, Family Movie Day with snacks on Oct. 19, Painting Class on Oct. 21, Halloween Pool Noodle Candles on Oct. 22, and Felt Chocolate Frog craft on Oct. 28 (all at 1906 S. Closner Blvd with no registration required and materials provided).
🏛️ Government
The Edinburg Police Department is accepting applications for its entry-level officer exam until October 20—applicants must submit all required documentation and meet basic eligibility.
The written test will be held on November 4 at 8:30 a.m. at the Edinburg Activity Center.
