  • ➤ Sisters Inspiring Success, Inc. will host the She Succeeds Job Fair at the Dustin Michael Sekula Library in Edinburg Tuesday, Sept. 30 from 9 a.m. to noon. The event will offer professional clothing and tools to help unemployed women prepare for work.  KRGV
  • ➤ The Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library in Edinburg will host Family Movie Day on Sunday, Sept. 28 with a free screening of Jurassic World Rebirth at 2 p.m.—families can sign up for a library card and enjoy complimentary snacks and a raffle giveaway.  The Edinburg Advocate

  • ➤ Edinburg will get the Rio Grande Valley’s first HTeaO location when construction begins Dec. 1 and is expected to finish by May 29—this $1.2 million, 2,156-square-foot drive-thru project will offer Southern-style tea drinks like strawberry passion and sweet Georgia peach.  MyRGV.com

  • ➤ The Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library in Edinburg will start free U.S. citizenship preparation classes on Oct. 11 taught by Edith Lopez. The four-month program covers civics, U.S. history and exam tips — it meets weekly from 6 to 8 p.m. at 1906 S. Closner Blvd.  The Edinburg Advocate

HEALTH NEWS

  • ➤ Edinburg ER nurse Javen Hinojosa was named a Top 20 finalist in the 2025 HeroesFIRST contest on September 24—he is the only South Texas nominee and is recognized for his life-saving CPR and positive care. Public voting is open through Oct. 3 to choose the top eight vote-getters who will share prizes totaling $16,500.  The Edinburg Advocate
