- ➤ A mobile home on the 400 block of Cameo Drive in Alamo was declared unlivable after a storage shed fire spread to the structure on Saturday at 1:40 p.m.—fire crews used an aggressive attack to prevent a total loss while a nearby residence was damaged by radiant heat, with no injuries reported. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Gonzalo Galvan Beltran was arrested by CBP officers at Hidalgo International Bridge on Tuesday after officers discovered he had an active warrant for aggravated kidnapping from the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office; he was then turned over to local authorities and booked into jail. FOX RGV
- ➤ Two trailers and additional equipment were stolen from Hidalgo County Drainage District property on Monday around 4 p.m.—the sheriff’s office is reviewing surveillance footage and canvassing the area while urging anyone with information to call county Crime Stoppers. FOX RGV
- ➤ U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers intercepted an estimated $8,900,000 in alleged meth hidden in a shipment of chayote at the Pharr International Bridge on April 13th—agents removed 3,770 packages weighing 1,002 pounds and launched a criminal investigation. KRGV

- ➤ Edinburg Library is hosting its annual Día de los Niños, Día de los Libros celebration on Saturday, April 26 at 6 p.m. at the Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library at 1906 S. Closner Blvd.—the free event will include games, live performances, arts and crafts, meet-and-greets with children’s authors and free books to promote literacy and cultural diversity. - ➤ Three UTRGV criminal justice students from Brownsville made history when they became the first all-female team to win first place in a pistol shooting contest at the ACJA national conference in Long Beach, California from March 30th to April 4th.
