Arlington opened the National Medal of Honor Museum on Tuesday, March 25 to share the stories of over 3,000 heroes, including four from the Rio Grande Valley.

The large museum near AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Field shows local heroes’ names—such as Edinburg’s Sgt. Freddy Gonzalez—and displays letters, uniforms, and weapons.

Gov. Abbott declared a disaster for the Rio Grande Valley on Saturday after record rainfall from a severe thunderstorm led to widespread flooding that impacted homes, businesses and agriculture—covering Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr and Willacy counties—while local officials reported three deaths during law enforcement efforts and began cleanup.
