- ➤ UTRGV has retained the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification, reaffirming its strong community ties in the Rio Grande Valley. The university completed a rigorous yearlong review that began in spring 2025 and announced the designation on Monday (valid until 2032). The Edinburg Advocate
- ➤ Edinburg CISD announced a districtwide cancer awareness event, Hope in All Colors, at Richard R. Flores Stadium on Saturday, Jan. 31. - ➤ Hidalgo County announced over $1 million in HOME-ARP funding for local agencies aiding residents facing housing instability. - ➤ Hidalgo County property owners must pay their 2025 property taxes by Feb. 2 to avoid penalties or interest. Payments can be made in person at the Tax Assessor-Collector’s main office (2804 S.
