If you live in Weslaco and want a healthcare career, there's a way in without the tuition bill. The Weslaco EDC, Workforce Solutions Lower Rio Grande Valley and Texas Southmost College (TSC) will cover tuition and fees for 25 residents in Patient Care Technician (PCT) training. Leaders gathered at Weslaco City Hall for the check presentation.

The money is a $58,500 Texas Workforce Commission grant, matched dollar for dollar by the Weslaco Economic Development Corporation. Hands-on clinical training will be hosted at Knapp Medical Center. “Investing in our people is an investment in Weslaco's future,” Weslaco Mayor Adrian Gonzalez said.
