Hidalgo County Precinct 4 and the Sheriff's Office are hosting a toy giveaway at Alfonso Flores All-Star Park (107 North Sunflower Road) today, offering over 3,000 toys for local children from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library will host a free virtual session with Diary of a Wimpy Kid author Jeff Kinney on Friday, Dec.
19 at 11 a.m. The event includes a studio tour, drawing demonstration and question and answer segment for families, homeschoolers and young fans.

Health officials warn that norovirus cases have been rising in Texas since mid-October.
They say the virus spreads through contaminated food + contact, urging residents to practice good hygiene to help slow its spread.
