- ➤ Tim’s Coats received a $6,000 donation on Wednesday from the Edinburg Rotary Club as part of a $10,000 effort by South Texas Rotary clubs, with the funds set to buy new coats during the 43rd Tim’s Coats campaign for those in need. KRGV
- ➤ Wreaths Across America will honor fallen veterans this holiday season by placing 1,600 wreaths on graves across the Valley. Marine veteran Laura Marquez said donations have funded only 160 wreaths, so she sometimes pays from her own pocket + is asking for more public support. KRGV
- ➤ Hidalgo County Precinct 4 opened its first community closet at the Precinct 4 Endowment Center at 107 Sunflower Rd in Edinburg today to provide free clothing and necessities; the initiative formed through a partnership with the AltaCair Foundation may lead to more closets countywide. KRGV

- ➤ H-E-B warns shoppers about a social media scam offering gift cards and shopping sprees through Facebook. The grocery chain said it is not running any promotions and urges anyone to report suspicious posts. KURV
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ La Posada de Ramón Ayala will return on Wednesday, Dec. 17 in Hidalgo as Hermes Music and the city sponsor an event that donates toys, candies and musical instruments to children and families (a cherished local tradition). The concert lineup will be announced on Dec. 10. KRGV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lily Cantú, director of marketing for the Rio Grande Valley Partnership, announced at a McAllen event that the monthly Commercial & Investment Tour will be rebranded as RGV Connect Forum starting in early 2026 — designed to boost collaboration and open legislative advocacy across the region. 6:00 – 7:30 PM — McAllen Veterans Memorial Stadium — Free entry — Celebrate the festive season with a spectacular parade expected to draw a crowd of 260,000 attendees.

7:30 AM – 1:30 PM — Edinburg Municipal Park — Entry fee applies — Participate in a festive 5K run supporting local pregnancy resource centers.
