ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Former McAllen mayor Jim Darling urged the Rio Grande Valley to use water conservation methods and tap reuse water—groundwater—river water instead of costly desalination. He spoke at a November 19 luncheon in McAllen and stressed that regional cooperation and new funding ideas are needed to meet rising water demands. Rio Grande Guardian
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Edinburg officials will hold a DWI Awareness meeting on Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. at City Hall + 415 W. University Drive in partnership with MADD, the Texas DOT Save a Life program and the Edinburg Police Department. - ➤ Hidalgo and Cameron counties received failing marks on the March of Dimes 2025 Preterm Birth Report Card — with rates of 13.3% and 12.7% — even though both counties showed improvements since the previous report. KURV
