COMMUNITY NEWS

  • American Legion Alfredo Gonzalez Post 408 will host its third annual Toy Ruck March on Nov 30 at 7 a.m. for a two-mile walk to support Edinburg’s Blue Santa Toy Drive and encourage donations of new, unwrapped toys — the walk starts at Post 408 and ends at the Edinburg Police Department with Starbucks providing coffee and pastries.  The Edinburg Advocate
  • Today at Promenade Park, the City of Edinburg is giving away 100 free trees and planting 10 new trees—one of which will honor the late Fire Chief Shawn Snider. City crews, volunteers, and the Texas A&M Forest Service support the event that begins at 8 a.m. with a Region One grant.  KRGV

  • The Edinburg Chamber of Commerce appointed Anissa de la Garza to its Board of Directors on November 14th—she has 17 years of experience as an operations manager and runs Dream Fiestas, a local business.   • The City of Edinburg will mark Texas Arbor Day today with a tree adoption event at Promenade Park starting at 8 a.m. where staff will distribute over 100 free trees and crews will plant 10 new trees, and a ceremonial planting in front of the Edinburg Fire Department will honor the late Fire Chief Shawn Snider while Texas A&M Forest Service offers extra trees and support.  The Edinburg Advocate
