- ➤ Yesterday, the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Indigo Casual Mexican Kitchen at 11 a.m. on Nov. 12 at 1102 N. - ➤ The Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library will host the launch of its new anthology 'The Write Stuff Writes More Stuff' on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m.—local writers will read selections and join an open mic session for creative expression. The Edinburg Advocate
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Edinburg CISD held its regular meeting on November 12 and elected Javier Salinas as board president—committee meetings are suspended until after the new year except for one focused on cancer, and enrollment dropped by about 860 students from last year. The Edinburg Advocate

- ➤ The City of Edinburg will mark Texas Arbor Day on November 15th with a free tree adoption event at Promenade Park—over 100 trees will be given away while supplies last. The Edinburg Advocate
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ South Texas Bishop Daniel Flores was elected vice president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops on Tuesday & will serve a three-year term. The Catholic Diocese of Brownsville congratulated him & urged local church members to keep him in their prayers. KURV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library will host the Rio Grande Valley Diabetes Association on Nov. 14 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at 1906 S. Closner Blvd+ the free screenings, held in honor of World Diabetes Day, aim to help catch diabetes and high blood pressure early. The Edinburg Advocate
