- ➤ The Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library has launched a November schedule of free children’s programs — Toddler Time on Tuesdays, Pre-School Story Time on Fridays, Homeschool Hour on Wednesdays, and Family Storytime during Thanksgiving Week — all at its main location on S. Closner Blvd. Homeschool Hour starts today at 11 a.m. for children ages 6 to 11 and offers hands-on learning projects. The Edinburg Advocate
- ➤ Edinburg Library has announced a full slate of free adult programs for November at the Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library that include creative workshops, wellness sessions, and classes covering crafts, writing, social media, and more. The schedule begins November 4 at 2 p.m.—with Dusty’s Crafters: Fall Lantern—and continues with Write Stuff today at 6 p.m., recurring diabetes series on Thursdays, and concludes with Family Movie Day November 30 at 2 p.m. The Edinburg Advocate

- ➤ A new preview shows Edinburg mayoral candidates are set to compete in the 2025 race with plans to improve local services and address key issues—voters will soon hear more details on debates and field events. - ➤ Edinburg Municipal Court is hosting a Coffee and Donuts event today at 10 a.m. at 100 E. Freddy Gonzalez Drive—offering residents a chance to meet court staff and learn about available services during Municipal Court Week. The Edinburg Advocate
- ➤ Today the City of Edinburg and Hidalgo County closed a public lot in downtown to start a $6.2 million parking garage project that changes traffic and parking as lane and sidewalk closures are in effect. Construction begins Thursday, Nov. 6 and drivers must use alternative lots with free Valley Metro shuttle service while a new county lot is built by late December — all to improve access around the courthouse district. - ➤ The Edinburg Fire Department earned statewide honors for its fire safety work when team members won awards on November 3rd—Lt. Frankie Joe Salinas, Lt. Homero Garza, and Chief Omar Garza were praised for their hard work to keep people and property safe. The Edinburg Advocate
- ➤ Edinburg Police Department partnered with Burleson Police Department will host a community presentation titled 'Dangers of Social Media: Protecting Our Kids in a Digital World' on Nov. 10th at 6:30 p.m. at the Edinburg Arts, Culture and Events Center—315 W. McIntyre St. The event will share practical safety tips with parents and guardians on cyberbullying, privacy breaches, and online predatory behavior. The Edinburg Advocate

- ➤ Edinburg Emergency Room nurse Javen Hinojosa, a South Texas College graduate, was honored on November 3 with the national HeroesFIRST award—he earned 1,121 votes and received a proclamation from a local councilman and an EMS owner.
