LEWIS Building LLC will restore a historic 1925 building on E.
University Drive and N. 13th Avenue into six white-box commercial rental spaces and later add a bourbon bar and coffee shop as part of a $650,000 renovation project. The project will create 15 full-time jobs over the next three years — supporting Edinburg's downtown revitalization — and boost local economic activity.
On November 3rd, Hidalgo County Judge Richard F.
Cortez urged the U.S. Department of Transportation to protect commercial air service between McAllen International Airport and Mexico City—he said the route is key for supporting families, businesses, and trade in South Texas.
Edinburg was named the fastest city in Texas and ranked fourth nationwide for permit processing, city officials said the award reflects ongoing efforts to streamline permits — helping local growth.
Drivers in downtown Edinburg are advised to plan alternate routes as the lot at the corner of McIntyre Street and North Closner Boulevard will close Wednesday—construction begins the next day.
