  • Edinburg Parks and Recreation Department will host its annual Halloween Fall Festival at Edinburg Municipal Park on Oct. 23 at 6 p.m.—the free event will feature a costume contest, games, food, rides and a trunk-or-treat for children.  The Edinburg Advocate

CULTURE NEWS

  • Edinburg Cultural Arts Division invites local artists, food vendors, and makers to participate in the 11th Annual Los Muertos Bailan Festival at McIntyre Promenade in downtown Edinburg on Saturday, Oct. 25. The event will feature art, music and dance to honor Day of the Dead traditions.  The Edinburg Advocate

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Edinburg ranked seventh among U.S. cities for Millennial earnings—its median Millennial household income was $79,139 compared to the city’s overall median of $59,851. The SmartAsset study shows a 32.23 percent earnings premium and makes it the only Texas city in the top 10.  The Edinburg Advocate

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Edinburg will celebrate Texas Arbor Day on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 8 a.m. at Promenade Park with a free tree adoption giveaway and volunteer planting—local partners like the Texas A&M Forest Service will offer tree care education as city staff and volunteers plant 10 new trees.  The Edinburg Advocate

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Luis Bazan, director of the International Pharr Bridge, spoke at the 2025 agricultural season kickoff to outline plans for an expansion that will add four lanes and new fast lanes—allowing more certified products to cross efficiently. The project is set to complete by mid-January with full operations beginning between February and March.  Rio Grande Guardian
  • The Edinburg City Council honored several local initiatives at its meeting on Oct. 21 by issuing proclamations for Domestic Violence Awareness, Physician Assistants, Breast Cancer Awareness and Community Planning—Mujeres Unidas, the local Physician Assistant Program and South Texas Health System were recognized for their contributions. Council updates also included plans for upcoming community events.  The Edinburg Advocate
  • Rep. Terry Canales urges Texans to vote YES on Proposition 14 this November 4th to set up the state's first institute for dementia research—this institute will look for better ways to treat Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and related diseases.  Rio Grande Guardian
  • Drivers in Edinburg should expect full nightly closures of the southbound I-69C main lanes between FM 2812 and Ramseyer Road from tonight until Oct. 23—closures run from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. and traffic will be diverted to the I-69C frontage road.  The Edinburg Advocate
