- ➤ Adults are invited to join the Halloween-themed Sip and Paint event today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Edinburg ACE Center. Registration costs $35 and includes painting supplies and two cups of wine—participants are advised to plan a safe ride home. The Edinburg Advocate
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library invites families to join its annual pumpkin decorating contest by submitting one entry based on a children's book or literary character from Oct. 13 to Oct. 19—pumpkins will be displayed from Oct. 21 to Oct. 31 when the public can vote daily. - ➤ Edinburg CISD held an ApplyTexas and FAFSA/TASFA Drive for high school seniors at its IT Building—411 N. 8th Ave—from Oct. 14 to Oct. 16, with counselors providing help on college applications and financial aid forms to support the Class of 2026. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ McAllen is planning to turn the 67-acre Boeye Reservoir into a multi-million dollar development with shops, entertainment and homes. The city is collecting bids through mid-December + it expects the project to boost economic output by 330 million dollars and create 900 permanent jobs. KURV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Edinburg CISD partnered with Hidalgo County Health to host a community vaccine clinic on Oct 16 at the ECISD Bus Transportation Annex, 1015 E. Schunior from 2 to 6 p.m. The clinic provided vaccines for children and young adults — with free shots for pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and 7th-grade students and fees for others unless covered by Medicaid or CHIP.
