- ➤ Edinburg will break ground on a three-level downtown parking garage at McIntyre Street and Closner Boulevard on Friday, Oct. 10 at 9:30 a.m.—the $6.2 million project includes 256 parking spaces and will take 12 months to complete. The project received a $2 million contribution from the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation and is intended to ease congestion while supporting central business district access. - ➤ McAllen City Commissioner Victor 'Seby' Haddad announced his candidacy for Texas House District 41 since state Rep. R.D. 'Bobby' Guerra will not seek re-election, and Haddad said he will use his local government and business experience to support families and build community—focusing on infrastructure and business growth. - ➤ Hidalgo County Precinct 4 Commissioner Ellie Torres will host a live talk show tomorrow at 2 p.m. featuring fire chiefs who will discuss home fire safety, lithium-ion battery risks and youth volunteerism.
