The Edinburg Fire Department invites families to the 33rd Annual Fire Stoppers Festival on Friday, Oct.
3 at the Central Fire Station from 6 to 10 p.m.—the free event will feature fire truck displays, live music by Whiskey D., Rock of Ages and School of Rock McAllen, food trucks, and fun activities for all ages.

Glenn Hamer, president and CEO of the Texas Association of Business, said in a speech at the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce that the border is 100% secure and that Congress should now pass immigration reform.
He said reform will help fill workforce gaps in key Texas sectors—healthcare, energy and agriculture.
