He will open a new fine dining restaurant soon at the Mercado District to meet increasing market demand — a plan that takes advantage of lower competition compared to larger metros. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Edinburg CISD Board will meet tomorrow at 6 p.m. in the board room to discuss a resolution on diversity, equity, and inclusion mandated by Senate Bill 12—along with updates on student enrollment, program contracts, and other district matters. The meeting will also address software renewals, community partnerships, and closed session topics on legal and personnel issues before opening for public comment. The Edinburg Advocate
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ This fall, the Edinburg World Birding Center will host guided one-mile bird walks on Sept. 27, Oct. 4 and Oct. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.—local nature lovers will see many bird species while paying $3 for adults, $2 for seniors and students, with free entry for members and children under 5 at 714 S. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Four schools in Hidalgo County have confirmed 60 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease in young children, officials said. They advise parents to keep sick children home for about a week+ practice good hand hygiene to help stop further spread. KRGV
