The Edinburg CISD Board of Trustees will meet Tuesday, Sept.

8 at 6 p.m. for its first regular board meeting with new Superintendent Dr. Angela Dominguez and will discuss a forensic audit request, a property sale for low-income housing and proposed employee terminations.

Donna ISD named Rebecca Castaneda as acting superintendent following Angela Dominguez’s resignation; Castaneda (with 30 years in education) will serve until a permanent leader is selected, while Dominguez begins her role in Edinburg.

The Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library will host the Library Card Sign-Up Month Kickoff Party in Edinburg on Tuesday, Sept.

8 at 6 p.m. Families can enjoy stories, craft projects, games, music, free books, and free cake and punch (while supplies last).

Hidalgo County Health & Human Services will kick off its free Narcan vending machine program on Tuesday, Sept.

8 at 9 a.m. at the Administration building at 1304 S. 25th Ave. The event will feature a naloxone demonstration and media interviews.

Two county judges have wagered on the outcome of the UTRGV—UTSA football game tomorrow.

Hidalgo County Judge Cortez will wear UTSA gear if the Vaqueros lose, and Bexar County Judge Sakai will wear UTRGV gear if UTSA loses at an upcoming Commissioners Court meeting.
