- ➤ South Texas Health System is hosting a Back to School Block Party at its Children’s Hospital at 1101 W. Trenton Road in Edinburg. The event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 2 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.—families can receive free school supplies, complimentary snacks, and health screenings. KRGV

- ➤ A fatal vehicle accident on July 28th on the 8300 block of East Canton Road claimed the life of a one-year-old toddler—authorities reported a family member was involved and the investigation continues to determine the cause. FOX RGV

- ➤ The Edinburg Parks and Recreation Department announced that the 3rd Annual Market Mania will take place on Saturday, August 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 315 Mark S. - ➤ Dr. Dustin Ferguson joined UTRGV as the new Vaquero Marching Band director after traveling nearly 4,000 miles from Hawai’i to lead the band for its historic inaugural football season. He said he will work closely with students as they prepare during a two-week camp in August ahead of the first game on August 30 at Robert and Janet Vackar Stadium — marking his first step in building a lasting legacy. - ➤ South Texas College will launch a Professional Dog Grooming program next month to prepare students for pet care careers. - ➤ Valley Metro will start a microtransit share-ride bus system in rural Hidalgo County using federal dollars and local coalition support.
