On Sept. 11, the Latina Leadership Conference will be held at the Mission Event Center in Mission to empower local leaders.
The event (hosted by the RGVHCC) will feature keynote speakers Jacqueline Puente and former Justice Eva Guzman and offer networking and development sessions.
Dignitaries gathered last Friday at the McAllen-Hidalgo International Bridge to mark its 100th birthday as local and binational leaders, including McAllen Mayor Villalobos, highlighted the bridge’s role in fostering cross-border ties and regional growth during challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic.
The RGV Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Mija Media House have launched Vendiendo Con Mi Grandma & Grandpa Kids Mercadito to boost entrepreneurship, literacy, and leadership among children in the Rio Grande Valley.

Quinta Mazatlan will host Chicharras Live on Thursday, July 16 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at 600 Sunset Drive in McAllen — the event features live music by Valley Sereno Strings, cicada sounds, crafts, and educational booths with $5 admission for adults and children and free entry for kids two and under.

Ken Paxton holds a rally today at 5:30 p.m. in McAllen at University Draft House Townlake, and James Talarico will speak at noon on Wednesday at Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg.
DHR Health Transplant Institute in Edinburg earned a No. 2 ranking in Texas + No. 16 nationally for its kidney transplant services, as reported on July 7.
