Local and federal officers searched a home on North Valley Road in Donna early Friday morning and arrested six people after finding narcotics, multiple firearms, and a stolen vehicle (charges include manufacture and delivery of controlled substances, unlawful firearm possession, failure to identify, and unauthorized motor vehicle use).

At a recent board meeting at Vantage Bank, RioPlex board member George Cardenas said working together is better than acting as separate cities—he said the initiative will unite communities from Brownsville to Roma as well as northern Mexico to attract new investments.

His comments come after the group's first meeting where the plan to promote the region’s economic potential was outlined.

Adam Copher has been named chief nursing officer at South Texas Health System McAllen and brings nearly 20 years of nursing experience from Florida to build a supportive, patient-focused care environment.

He said he will lead efforts for quarterly staff meetings (his first Meet & Greet at University Draft House drew a large turnout) to boost teamwork and patient safety.
