🚨 Crime
A Texas DPS trooper was injured and motorcyclist Tristan Andrew Mares was arrested for evading arrest during a pursuit near 25th Street and Freddy Gonzalez Drive in Edinburg—both were treated at a local hospital and later released.
🏛️ Government
Today, Edinburg Public Works is using a $300,000 Asphalt Zipper machine to repair pothole-riddled roads on Chapin and Monmack Streets and will work on 50 more roads needing immediate repairs.
The machine pulverizes the asphalt, re-compacts the base and repaves over it — a one-step fix designed to last and save money.
Valley Metro has introduced a new free TransLoc app that shows buses in real time and sends notifications about delays—this upgrade replaces an older glitchy system and now covers transit services across the Rio Grande Valley including McAllen Metro, B Metro in Brownsville and Island Metro on South Padre Island and Port Isabel.
