- ➤ Edinburg Police are offering a free self-defense course for women 18 and older at the Edinburg Training Facility with sessions on June 18th and June 20th; interested women should contact the City of Edinburg Center Facility for registration—this course aims to teach practical self-defense techniques. - ➤ At the Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library, the Summer Reading Program “Color Our World” will highlight global cultures with interactive events from June 15 through June 20. - ➤ On June 13, three Edinburg Police Department employees were honored in Austin for their service and bravery at the State of Texas Law Enforcement Achievement Awards, hosted by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. Communications Manager Elias Martinez received the Public Service Award for implementing a live video system for dispatchers—while Officers Jose Ramos III and Robert Lee Garcia were awarded the Valor Award for rescuing a child from a burning home on March 9.
