- ➤ A special Memorial Day ceremony was held at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission to honor fallen service members as visitors paid their respects. Headstones for those killed or missing in action were illuminated overnight and the cemetery remains open for visitors. KRGV

- ➤ RioPlex hosted lemon and lime growers from Apatzingán at Klub Nautique in Mission to build trade ties and explore a direct flight from McAllen to Morelia (a key step to boost regional business). Rio Grande Guardian
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UTRGV has approved plans to transform a former retail center at 2222 S. 77 Sunshine Strip in Harlingen into therapy departments for physical and occupational learning. The 55,430-square-foot facility with advanced labs will be completed by spring 2027 with a $42.3-million investment. MyRGV.com
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ UTRGV has launched a Motus Tower project to track bird migration in the Valley by tagging birds so researchers can study how drought and storms may affect their behavior. Data collection begins this week. KRGV
- ➤ The National Weather Service urges residents in the Rio Grande Valley to prepare for the hurricane season which begins June 1st. The agency released a preparedness guide outlining safety steps despite a forecast for fewer storms this season. KURV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A water leak prompted the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to issue a boil water notice for Sebastian MUD customers. They must boil water for two minutes before use or turn to bottled water until officials lift the notice (seniors, children, and those with weakened immune systems face higher risks). KRGV
