ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Saturday morning, a woman driving a Ford Mustang was hospitalized after colliding with a DPS unit at the busy intersection of University Drive and 16th Avenue in Edinburg—police reported that the trooper was uninjured and no further details were released.  The Edinburg Advocate
  • Police are investigating a deadly crash at the intersection of North Second Street, Colonel Rowe Boulevard and Nolana Avenue in McAllen—where a Chevy Silverado and a Nissan Altima collided—that killed a 54-year-old man from McAllen and a 20-year-old man from Pasadena, and they said intoxication may have played a role with criminal charges expected.  KURV

  • A 27-year-old Weslaco woman died when hit by a dark Chevrolet Impala on Sunday at around 6 a.m. on Mile 4 West Road north of Mile 12 ½ Road—Texas DPS is asking anyone with information to call 956-565-7600.  KRGV
  • Federal authorities arrested Edinburg man Cesar Saenz last Friday on accusations he stole over $600,000 through fraud involving fake veteran assistance and heavy machinery deals + he faced five counts of wire fraud when he appeared in McAllen federal court Monday with a detention hearing scheduled for Wednesday.  MyRGV.com

  • Texas shoppers can save tax during the state's annual sales tax holidays for ENERGY STAR and water-efficient products scheduled from May 24 to May 26—saving an estimated $15.2 million as noted by Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar.  The Edinburg Advocate

  • Edinburg North High School ended its lockdown after an investigation found no credible threat from a reported weapon and all students and staff were safe—Edinburg CISD police and local law enforcement secured the campus.  KRGV
  • Edinburg North High School went into lockdown Monday morning after reports of a weapon on campus, and an investigation lasting 40 minutes found no credible threat—leaving parents uneasy as prank calls and a May 6 arrest for gun possession add to the safety concerns.  KRGV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dr. Andres Saenz said that stroke education can save lives by teaching residents how to spot warning signs (Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, Time to call) and manage risks like high blood pressure and diabetes.
