- ➤ Eighteen-year-old Kinzey Jay Lira was arrested after a pistol was found in his backpack at Edinburg North High School on May 6th and a federal judge in McAllen set his bond at $75K (with a $1,500 deposit) while he will face home confinement if released. KURV
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Edinburg will host Culture Fest 2025 at Promenade Park Amphitheater, 201 W. McIntyre St on May 17, which will feature traditional music, dance, and cultural displays from Filipino, African American, Korean, Indian, and Mexican communities—global cuisines, artisan merchandise, drum circles, and live DJ sets will also be available. - ➤ The South Texas Arts Fair extended its application deadline to May 18 to give local visual artists more time to apply for the event set for June 13 and 14 at the Edinburg Arts, Culture & Events Center—applicants must submit five recent work images, an artist statement, a resume, a headshot, a medium description and a $40 fee, with jury notifications on May 26 and a VIP reception on June 13 from 6-9 p.m. The Edinburg Advocate
