Eighteen-year-old Kinzey Jay Lira was arrested at Edinburg North High School on Tuesday after a student reported an unloaded gun modified for automatic fire and THC vapes were found, and he now faces state charges with a $100,000 bond and federal charges that could lead to up to five years in prison—investigators are also reviewing his recent mental health discharge and vape sales history.

Edinburg CISD will honor its Class of 2025 with graduation ceremonies at Bert Ogden Arena on May 31 and June 1.

Doors open an hour before each event — no tickets are required and ceremonies will be streamed live.

The Texas Senate passed a bill that would provide state funding for flood control and water reclamation projects and sent it to Governor Abbott’s desk.

Sponsored by Senator Juan 'Chuy' Hinojosa, the bill makes Hidalgo County’s Delta Reclamation Project eligible for state funds to repurpose stormwater.
