May 3 election results show that voters in Hidalgo and Cameron counties returned mixed decisions on local races—voters strongly supported the City of Starbase incorporation and rejected the Cameron County Venue Project.
Officials said the results are unofficial and will be updated as canvassing continues.

Summer squash, a low-calorie and nutrient-rich vegetable popular in local kitchens, will be featured at McAllen’s Firemen’s Park Farmers Market on Saturday, May 10, where free recipes and gardening tips will be offered after a May 3 closure due to heavy rain predictions — the market runs from 9 a.m. to noon at 201 N. 1st St.
