- ➤ Family, friends, and law enforcement gathered at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Mission last week to say goodbye to Border Patrol Agent Alejandro De Luna, who died in a crash on his way to work in McAllen. - ➤ The Edinburg City Council approved a new parking ordinance on April 16 that limits parking near the courthouse to two hours to help small businesses get more customer access. - ➤ Jose Roberto Botello jumped from Queen Isabella Causeway on Monday when officers tried to stop his car and he appeared in court in South Padre Island yesterday—he now faces charges for evading arrest and failure to identify and has active warrants in Hidalgo County for robbery, deadly conduct and illegal gun possession with a bond set at 35 thousand dollars. - ➤ On April 11 and April 12, CBP agents seized over $1.2 million in cocaine at three South Texas bridges, finding 10 bundles in a silver Chevrolet sedan at Pharr International Bridge, 9 bundles in a Ford sedan during a secondary inspection at Hidalgo International Bridge, and 20 bundles in another vehicle—cases that have been referred to Homeland Security Investigations.
