Artist Susana Rubín de Celis, a Mexico City native now in the Valley, developed a cement sculpture honoring harvest hands for the new CIL Fresh Pharr Distribution Center in Pharr (she learned welding and cement techniques for the project) and plans more works celebrating local agriculture.
🏛️ Government
Salomon Torres, president of Soluciones Consulting, will appeal USDA's decision to end a *$7.4 million* grant for small-scale farmers and meet with Congressman Vicente Gonzalez and Senator John Cornyn to restore funding.
He said the appeal aims to help local farmers stay in business.
