- ➤ A driver in Edinburg nearly hit an arcade machine on Monte Cristo Road Saturday, April 4 while rainy conditions and low visibility increased the risk, prompting TXDOT to warn drivers to secure their loads and advise calling 911 for roadside debris removal. KRGV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller warned ranchers that the New World screwworm, detected in Nuevo León (90 miles from the border), is an immediate threat to livestock and urged producers to check their animals promptly. State, federal and local partners are working on prevention measures to contain its spread. KRGV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ H-E-B is partnering with Channel 5 News to offer free glucose screenings throughout April to help residents catch early signs of diabetes. H-E-B and South Texas Health System will provide tests and share prevention tips for the community. KRGV
- ➤ UTRGV is offering low-cost and free diabetes care through clinics in Brownsville, San Carlos, and La Victoria. The community clinics help patients find affordable medication options and provide education sessions (including nutrition counseling) to ease rising medication costs. KRGV
