- ➤ Edinburg Parks and Recreation postponed the 5th Annual Dirty Duathlon from April 11 to April 25 because muddy trails and expected rain raised safety concerns. The race will start at 7:30 a.m. at its usual location (registration remains open) for athletes to sign up. The Edinburg Advocate

- ➤ The South Texas ISD Board of Trustees named Dr. Sandra Garza Ochoa as the lone finalist for superintendent at an April 7 meeting; the board will vote on her contract offer on April 29 after a 21-day waiting period mandated by state law. The Edinburg Advocate
- ➤ Stephen F. Austin Elementary School will unveil an official Texas Historical Marker on May 14 at 9 a.m. at 1023 E. Kuhn St. The ceremony will feature remarks by school, district + community leaders to honor the school’s long history in education. The Edinburg Advocate
