  • Edinburg Parks and Recreation will host a free Easter Egg Hunt on Thursday, Apr. 2 at Municipal Park (714 S. Raul Longoria Road) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Children will join age-based hunts starting at 6 p.m. with an inclusive hunt at 7 p.m.  The Edinburg Advocate

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Edinburg Police Department will offer a Spanish-language Citizens Police Academy course starting April 6 with Monday sessions 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. until May 18 at the LCPD Derek Hernandez Police Training Facility (1309 N. Doolittle Road) while registration remains open today for residents and workers aged 21 and older.  The Edinburg Advocate
  • Edinburg native Miguel Salinas, a U.S. Army veteran, is taking steps toward a medical career by enrolling in STC's Patient Care Technician program—earning four certifications and volunteering at the local VA—before he graduates this May and applies to PA school.  The Edinburg Advocate

  • Officials say new Food Stamp rules will not allow SNAP users to purchase candy + sugary sodas with their Lone Star Cards. The change starts Wednesday and affects about three-and-a-half million Texans, including many children.  KURV
