Police are investigating two armed robberies that occurred early Wednesday morning in Edinburg — one where suspects in a white Cadillac targeted Nine Tails Smoke Shop on North Doolittle Road by threatening a clerk and another where an unidentified suspect robbed a pedestrian at gunpoint on West McIntyre Street while he was using his phone, with no injuries reported.
Rolando Martinez, owner of America's Best Clothing, was arrested last Friday when Homeland Security agents searched his business at 591 East Produce Road in Hidalgo and found he had hired two people without proper work documents — the court then set a $10,000 bond with conditions for his release.
Since 2019, the Rio-South Texas Education & Community Development Foundation has awarded $9.4 million—matched to $18.8 million—to 26 education and workforce programs in the region, helping local residents gain skills for in-demand jobs.
