- ➤ The City of Edinburg Parks and Recreation Department will host its annual free Easter Egg Hunt on April 17 at Municipal Park's south side soccer fields at 714 S. Raul Longoria Road from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.—the event will offer age-specific hunts starting with children 3 and under at 6 p.m. and end with an accessible hour at 8 p.m. The Edinburg Advocate
- ➤ Today, the Salvation Army in McAllen serves meals at 5 p.m. and helps families facing court-ordered eviction through its Love Beyond Late Bills Program. The organization used its previous funding to aid 82 families in 2024—now it is asking the community for donations as it seeks renewed government support. KRGV

- ➤ The Edinburg Police Department will host Project 365: Auto Theft and Burglary Prevention on April 23 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Edinburg Municipal Park where officers will share anti-theft tips and crime statistics. - ➤ Joel Arauza of Las Milpas said he must closely monitor every dime he spends as his family's budget tightens after the U.S. Agriculture Department ended pandemic-era programs that helped local food banks and schools buy food from nearby farmers—he worries this change will further strain their reliance on SNAP. - ➤ The Children's Bereavement Centers of the Rio Grande Valley will mark its third anniversary of independence on April 1 and offer free counseling to children ages 3 to 24. Executive director Bill Reagan said the centers in Harlingen and McAllen have grown since 2017 +staffed by licensed professionals+ and he hopes local residents will learn about the service +which also supports grieving families+. - ➤ The City of Edinburg will host the 4th Annual Dirty Duathlon on April 5 at Doolittle Nature Park located at 1300 N. Doolittle Road — the race includes a 1.5-mile run, a 3-mile bike ride and another 1.5-mile run that will start at 7:30 a.m., with registration fees set at $20 for individuals and $30 for relay teams.
