- ➤ Local resident Jonah Goldberg, who has family in Israel, expressed concern after missiles struck near Jerusalem over the weekend and killed at least nine people — Temple Emanuel in McAllen has increased patrols and security partnerships to safeguard its congregation. KRGV

- ➤ Mario Reyna of the Prosperity Task Force envisions uniting economic data from the McAllen, Edinburg, Mission area, Brownsville, Harlingen area, and Northern Tamaulipas to show a larger market that will attract more investment, jobs + federal funding in the coming years. Rio Grande Guardian
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Edinburg CISD Collegiate High is accepting enrollment applications for incoming ninth and 10th grade students for the 2026-27 school year. The deadline to submit applications is March 13. The Edinburg Advocate
- ➤ NADBank and The Trust for the Americas launched the Skills for Sustainability initiative with a workshop on March 3 at the Rio Grande Valley Partnership offices; South Texas College will train residents in wastewater and heavy equipment operations (mirroring the El Paso pilot) to fill local water sector jobs. - ➤ Military Highway Water Supply Corporation lifted its boil water notice on Thursday morning for customers in Villa Nueva, San Pedro, El Ranchito, La Paloma, and Los Indios after addressing a power failure; lab tests confirmed safe water on March 5. KRGV

- ➤ Pharr Public Health Department launched the Pharr ONE breast milk donation site yesterday — Mothers’ Milk Bank of Austin covers all donor screening costs as the milk will support needy infants in local and state hospitals. KURV
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ A historic two-story home near South Closner Boulevard and Canal Street is being renovated by Carlos Garza to house his engineering firm and potential rental units. Garza (who bought the property in May 2025) is clearing the building and updating its plumbing and wiring for long-term use. KRGV
