- ➤ Two parents testified at the Edinburg CISD board meeting on Jan. 27 about special education and student transportation safety amid rising costs. Carolina Perez said restrictions on talking directly with her son's aide compromised his progress & Alondra Flores urged the board to add a real-time bus tracking app. The Edinburg Advocate
- ➤ Edinburg CISD board cleared weather cancellation rumors, introduced a new Community Advisory Committee, and demanded stricter campus access rules at their Tuesday night meeting + Superintendent Dr. Mario Salinas explained he acted independently on weather delays amid safety concerns. - ➤ South Texas College will offer free tax preparation services at the Pecan Campus beginning Feb. 2 and at the Mid-Valley Campus Feb. 3 in a six-week VITA program for residents earning $67,000 or less, with volunteer training already underway. The Edinburg Advocate
- ➤ RGVAGC launched its Heavy Equipment Operator Training Program in partnership with Workforce Solutions Cameron + will train 100 local residents in NCCER Core and heavy equipment operations to support upcoming LNG projects at the Port of Brownsville.
