- ➤ A new $7 million multipurpose sports facility funded by COVID relief dollars is set to open in May near Expressway 83 in Weslaco & features gymnasiums, batting cages and weight rooms. KRGV
- ➤ Valley residents earning $67,000 or less will receive free tax preparation services from United Way of South Texas VITA starting at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 113 W. Pecan Boulevard in McAllen as 130+ volunteers aim to help 3,500 families. KRGV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A new group of 7th graders across the Rio Grande Valley joined the Gear Up program to boost college readiness as Brownsville ISD was awarded $7 million to support over 2,300 students in 10 middle schools. Each school receives a dedicated mentor + parents get training to navigate college information. KRGV
