  • The Hidalgo County Community Service Agency is now accepting applications for its Access to Success program, aiming to assist eligible residents in overcoming poverty by improving employment prospects through tuition and professional training support.  KURV

  • A Hidalgo County judge reduced the $3.5 million bond for Kristian Valenzuela, a suspect in the 2023 murder of Editza Gomez, to $105,000.  KRGV

  • The Triangle Railroad Holding Company is leading initiatives to introduce light rail to the Rio Grande Valley and will discuss these plans at the 2025 Rio Grande Valley International Rail Conference.  Rio Grande Guardian

  • The Edinburg CISD Police Department is enhancing safety by deploying more officers to enforce laws against drivers who pass stopped school buses, funded by a $95,000 grant.  KRGV

  • The Texas Department of Transportation is seeking public feedback for the I-69 Connector project, aimed at reducing congestion and aiding evacuation by creating a new 25-mile route between I-69 Central and I-69 East.  Rio Grande Guardian
  • Hidalgo County property owners must pay their taxes by January 31, 2025, to avoid penalties, with extended office hours provided for convenience.  KRGV

HEALTH NEWS

  • H-E-B donated $1 million to Driscoll Children’s Hospital Rio Grande Valley for advanced medical equipment, enhancing care for children in the region.  KRGV
