- ➤ Angelina Resendiz’s family is partnering with local nonprofit Trash To Treasure to create an environmental scholarship that offers $150 to $500 for environmental projects or recycled art by middle, high school, and college students, honoring the late sailor’s love of the outdoors. KRGV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Texas Ag Commissioner Sid Miller warned livestock producers after a third screwworm case was confirmed in a seven-year-old bovine in González, Tamaulipas (215 miles from the border). Ranchers are urged to inspect animals daily and report any suspicious wounds to help prevent spread. KRGV
- ➤ Residents north of Donna on Whitetail Circle will soon benefit from a $150,000 road repair project developed after local community input with LUPE+Hidalgo County Precinct 1 officials; the work began recently and is set to complete within six weeks. KRGV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday, the House passed a bill to extend ACA tax credits that lower health care costs while Rio Grande Valley doctors warn that without the extension, locals may delay needed medical care as credits recently expired; the legislation now awaits Senate approval. KRGV
